Engaging with the community

We think it is important to retain strong links with our local community.

Each year we run public events - a plant sale in April time and an annual show in late August / early September, the proceeds from both are shared with a local charity chosen by the membership at the AGM.

At November 2021's AGM, the members chose The Edge. as their focus for support. Past recipients have included Chorlton Good Neighbours and Reach Out to the Community.

The Edge do some amazing work in providing a stellar array of great entertainment at affordable prices together with an impressive programme of participatory cultural opportunities for local groups and individuals. As a registered charity it is reliant on donations and grants to fund its important work.

We also take part in the Chorlton Arts Festival each year and for the first time in 2022 we are taking part in Chorlton Open Gardens in support of the campaign “Freedom from Torture”.  This will be on June 26th from 11 to 5 pm.

We have links with local schools so children can come and see how vegetables are grown and we hope to extend this in the future.
